Robb Report · January 2009

The Perfect 10.
One of ten journeys chosen worldwide.

For The Perfect 10, Robb Report chose ten journeys from dozens of the world’s leading travel consultants. Jean-Michel’s New Zealand helicopter journey was one of them.

The Perfect 10

Robb Report writes for readers who can travel anywhere in the world, with anyone they choose. For The Perfect 10, its editors chose ten journeys from dozens put forward by leading travel consultants around the world.

The January 2009 edition, Flight Plans, included Jean-Michel Jefferson's New Zealand journey by helicopter: the country's wilderness reached from the air, with landings where no road goes. It remains the way we open up Fiordland, South Westland and the high country today.

Robb Report, 2018: Māori New Zealand

In October 2018, Robb Report Malaysia wrote about Ahipara's Māori cultural journeys, the dimension of New Zealand travel that most visitors don't know exists.

New Zealand's Māori culture is neither a performance nor a museum exhibit. It is a living tradition, with communities, protocols, and relationships that take years to build. The access Ahipara has developed — to marae, to elders, to experiences that are not available to the general public — is the result of two decades of respectful engagement with those communities.

“Our aim is to have an in-depth understanding of our client, allied to a sensitivity of the country, to put together an experience that is so authentic that it can sometimes be transformational.”

Jean-Michel Jefferson, quoted in Robb Report, 2018
