Wellness

Restoration, in a country that still remembers how to be still.

The Experience

True luxury is personal — and for many, the deepest luxury of all is time to do nothing at all. In Aotearoa, wellness is not a spa menu. It is geothermal water, native forest, and a spiritual stillness the land has held for centuries. Having said that, there are some superb spa experiences as well as access to kundalini-awakened therapists and Māori healers.

Two Retreats

Where wellness becomes the entire address

Split Apple Retreat sits above the turquoise water of the Abel Tasman, a boutique wellness lodge built around little beyond silence, native bush and the sound of the sea below. There is barely anywhere else to be — which is precisely the point.

Further south, Maruia River Retreat sits remote and alone beside its own private hot pools, hemmed in by native forest with no neighbour for miles. It is restoration with the noise of the modern world simply switched off.

Each is a destination in its own right: a place to arrive, exhale, and let the days slow to the pace of the river outside the window.

Rotorua Geothermal

Healing waters, and healing hands

Wai Ariki sits on Rotorua's lakefront above its own natural geothermal springs: mineral waters drawn from the earth, layered through a sequence of pools, sauna and steam built for unhurried restoration.

We pair it with time alongside a Māori spiritual healer we have known for years, a rongoā practitioner whose work moves beyond the physical, into something closer to the spirit.

Together they are restoration on two levels at once: the body soothed by the water, and something deeper, gently attended to.

“We believe that true luxury is personal. That is why we invest so deeply in understanding exactly what each guest needs.”

Beyond The Spa

Sacred places
of Aotearoa

Māori are the guardians of New Zealand’s holy places, its wāhi tapu. Many of our guests describe feeling something during their journey they had not expected, a sense of wairua, of spirit, that settles over them in certain places.

We craft quiet journeys to these sites, guided by those entrusted to protect them and to decide what may, and may not, be shared. There is no agenda beyond presence.

For travellers exhausted by the pace of modern life, this is the most profound luxury we offer: permission, and the perfect place, to simply be.
